The quenching system of the ethylene plant is directly connected to the cracking and compression units. The quenching system mainly consists of the quench oil system, quench water system and dilution steam generation system. Common problems in the quenching system include high viscosity of quench oil, low bottom temperature of the gasoline fractionation tower, frequent emulsification of quench water and unstable operation of the dilution steam generation system, which affects the full-load and long-term production of the ethylene plant. The quench oil pump is used to transfer the cracked fuel oil in the quench oil tower to the quench oil burner of the cracking furnace, where it is directly mixed with the cracked gas from the waste heat boiler to rapidly cool down the cracked gas and reduce the secondary polymerization of the cracked gas. The quench water pump is used to extract the quench water separated in the quench water tower and send it to the heat exchangers of various quench water users to recover heat and cool down, serving as the power source for the quench water circulation. The quench oil pump and quench water pump, as key equipment in the quenching system of an ethylene plant, have a significant impact on the performance of the ethylene plant. Their operational status is of vital importance, and the reliability of the equipment is highly demanded.
